The Fragrant Perfume

We hear of various patterns about entering GOD’s presence. Although all are true and acceptable, there are few things to keep in mind before doing so.

Did you ever give a thought if at all you are called in by the President of your nation for a dinner? Would you dress up and go to him/her as you normally are in your home? No way. We follow a lot of protocol to get in there. Then why would we take it so easy to enter the Presence of GOD, the Maker of Heaven and Earth?

We all know the story of Esther in the Bible. Read this verse carefully from the book of Esther.

Before a young woman’s turn came to go in to King Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics. Esther 2:12.

Any woman to enter into the presence of the king has to undergo 12 months of training. Her training for the first 6 months is a treatment with oil of myrrh. When we refer the ancient uses of myrrh and its significance the records says myrrh is a tree resin that has been used and valued since ancient times for its medicinal, cosmetic, aromatic and spiritual applications. The oil obtained from it was used for healing wounds. The health benefits of myrrh oil can be attributed to its properties like anti microbial, astringent, expectorant, anti fungal, stimulant, carminative, stomachic, anti catarrhal, diaphoretic, vulnerary, antiseptic, immune booster, circulatory, tonic, anti inflammatory and anti spasmodic.

The later 6 months included a treatment with the oils scented with perfume, sweet odors and cosmetics. From ancient to till date, perfumes are always sprayed as an addition to add to the body odor after taking a fresh bath or cleansing. Also they were used as a significant possession by people of the high class society or of the higher order. The fact here is, before being scented with perfumes and cosmetics the young women need a deep cleansing with the oil of myrrh. It’s a known truth that if we don’t cleanse enough and scent our self with the perfume over the dirt on our body, we smell like a decayed organism. Don’t ever try that 🙂

When it comes to entering the presence of the King of Kings, often we enter into worship without much needed preparation. We worship generally before we hear God’s word which means it is something done as a part of preparing a group of people/ church/ meeting to hear the sermon for the day, but worship is rather lot more than that. WORSHIP is to please the King! And we worship him for who HE is, what HE is and it is needed to be done in perfect adoration & love. Worship is something that should come out of our life rather than out of our mouth.

Worship is like a perfume which is to anoint him as Mary Magdalene anointed the feet of Jesus with the costliest perfume. I recently heard a song which says

“Let the fragrance of my worship steal Your Heart! Let the fragrance of my praise fill Your Holy place”

Worship is an opportunity to anoint him with the perfumes of our fragrant lives. But before that we need to get ourselves ready with a deeper cleansing with the oil of myrrh, an antiseptic – a healing agent which will clean every stagnant, dirt accumulating cells, wounded or half healed places, bleeding points in our heart, mind and soul. Often we neglect this fact of the required cleansing needed in our lives and we go into his presence to spray perfumes. Always it is necessary that we keep a check on our lives in prayer asking GOD for a deeper cleansing from all the earthly unnecessary things we carry in our life, and then when we present our selves to worship him in truth and spirit you offer him a perfume that be a sweet aroma to the King of Kings.

The Bible says in Mathew 26:13 “… wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”

The fragrance of a perfume can never be restricted to a single place. We do observe this daily- whenever somebody sprays a perfume they carry the scented smell wherever they go. Mary’s worship was so perfumed that JESUS himself told wherever the Gospel is preached this woman’s deed will be proclaimed. The secret behind is that she had a deeper cleansing of repentance, broken heart and a life of realization of who she was and the value of salvation she received through the forgiveness of Jesus. As a result she prepared herself with the oil of myrrh closing down every root of dirt in her life.

This is exactly what we need these days as youngsters, a cleansing with the oil of myrrh. Only then will we smell perfumed. I encourage you readers to spend ample amount of time first to get this inner cleansing from time to time often and then when we offer ourselves in worship our life becomes a sweet fragrance to the world. God desires your perfumed smell to spread across this world which is decayed and rotten by the sin. Gear up dear brothers & sisters, let the fragrance of your praise fill HIS HOLY PLACE!!!

School of Worship

To worship God is to express our love and awe of who He is. In Isaiah 66:1 God says “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it, which includes little ones like me and you. How wonderful and amazing is that!

WORSHIP is what God is all about. Worship should matter to us simply because it matters to God. And worship matters to God because He knows He is worthy. I know that does not sound too persuasive in our me-centered culture, but it is true. Worship does not begin with us. Worship begins and ends with God. And God is worthy of all praise, from all people, for all time.

God is the center of everything that exists. He alone is the Creator. Sustainer. Originator. Life Giver. Beauty Maker. That’s why every glimpse into God’s presence throughout the pages of His Word affirms that God dwells in endless praise.

Notice the angel host of Revelation, never ceasing to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come” (Revelation 4:8). Never do they stop. Day and night they proclaim, always affirming His infinite worth. And “the heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands” (Psalm 19:1). Why? Because that’s what they were created to do, day after day to proclaim that He is huge, All-powerful, Glorious, Limitless Beyond our wildest imagination.

And you know what’s really wild? This massive God, who has never known any shortage of worship, wants to be worshiped…by you. Wow….. isn’t that really amazing. It’s not that He needs any more worship to be worthy. It’s not that God needs our worship–but that He wants it. He wants it because He deserves it. And He commands it because to do so is the most loving thing we can possibly do.

In the days where ‘worship’ is turned down to be another form of music, we realize the fact that worship is not an art but a HEART THING. Kathryn Scott says, “I think that anywhere there are hearts turned to God – that are willing to be transparent and vulnerable – that’s where there is still vibrant worship.” It might look different in different contexts, but it’s still the type of worship the Father is looking for. Along the way, the melodies will change, and the lyrics depict different aspects of God … but the vibrancy is all to do with what is going on in changed lives.

SCHOOL OF WORSHIP is a place that prepares a generation to become passionate worshipers of the Most High God. It’s all about preparing a generation that is deeply in love with God, who out of their deeper intimacy and relation with God pours out all the love as an expression of worship.

Started in 2009, the school now selects only 50 youngsters from all over the nation to build them up in various areas of their spiritual and personal life, preparing them to be a people who shall worship Him in the Most Holy presence. Some of the topics that are taught in the school include

INFLAME 2012 – Prophetic Worship Conference

Hi Friends!

It gives us so much pleasure to meet you all again this way after DOWNPOUR 2012. Hope you are guided by God in all the areas of life and walking with GOD in an unbroken communion with HIM.

This time we do come with a much more exciting news. And it is all about INFLAME – a one day prophetic worship conference on 17th April 2012, here in Vijayawada again. Now go ahead to have a clear idea of what it is!

Worshiping God in a prophetic way can change the heart of the worshiper.

Samuel said the following to Saul about a supernatural worship experience: “You will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you and you will prophesy with them and you will be turned into another man.” (I Samuel 10: 5-6).This passage of scripture is a picture of prophetic worship as well as a demonstration of the power that is released through the prophetic.

Likewise, when a group of believers worship in Spirit and in truth, by the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit, we enter into a supernatural exchange with the Lord. Our hearts open to Him and we are able to receive and experience the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.

Prophetic worship is more than just singing and making music; during prophetic worship, intercession is offered, spiritual warfare is waged, prophetic power is released, anointed sounds are produced and creative words are spoken and sent forth. Glory, life, light, and spirit are transmitted. The power of prophetic worship is fully experienced when we as worshipers come together in the unity of the Spirit, with an open heart and a willingness to completely offer our praise to him.

Friends! We at HEAVEN’S CULTURE take this humble opportunity to announce about INFLAME – one day prophetic worship conference in VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh. We have two precious guests, Lillis Boyer and Sylvia Deall from abroad who has been moving in the gift of PROPHETIC WORSHIP for quiet a long time.

LILLIS BOYER is an itinerant missionary/minister to Kenya, Africa, as well as other third world countries. Besides Kenya, she has ministered in Jamaica, Solomon Islands and Australia. She flows in a prophetic, revelatory and teaching gifting, and has ministers in personal prophetic ministry, through music/worship leading, writing, and her art. She is on staff with the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, which is a part of the New Apostolic Reformation movement.IHOP is most well-known for its daily prayer meetings based on its “harp and bowl” worship model that are held 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

SYLVIA DEALL is a childrens pastor, and has a gifting with teaching children to worship and also training childrens workers to teach the children to move in the gifts of the spirit, and hearing God.She is also into the ministry of prophetic flags and banners.

We strongly believe that this would be an wonderful opportunity to take the worship culture in our churches to another level piercing into the realms of the prophetic and the supernatural. As the conference is limited to one day, on the 17th APRIL 2012, we highly recommend to make your opportunity to attend this. Don’t miss this.

DOWNPOUR 2012 – Vijayawada

Dear Friends!

It is so amazing to meet you this way. I am very much excited to inform you about DOWNPOUR 2012, a 3 day event of SEEKING and SOAKING in the PRESENCE OF GOD

I wish to share few things regarding DOWNPOUR 2012 to make you understand our heart in having this event.

Long back, almost 3 years, I was once going through my regular bible study in the morning and I happened to read 33rd chapter of Exodus. It speaks about the TABERNACLE OF MEETING where Moses used to talk with God on a regular basis. I was stuck at the 11th verse . . .it says, “So, the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend……! ” When my mind caught the attention of this verse, an unknown hunger started birthing in my heart for that FACE TO FACE conversation with God, an encounter with the glorious God. I read the same chapter many times, read many books about having a relation with God, and did all that I can do to have that. My quest is on…..

And surprisingly, I happened to meet a man of God from Bangalore whose name is SHYJU MATHEW. And it opened a way for me to attend a Young Leaders Conference called TENT OF MEETING arranged by his ministry. And it is at this place, my hunger for that extravagant relation with God intensified. Despite of the hunger that continued in my heart and deep inside my belly the insights I was taught there started making a way into that relation with GOD.

The key thing what TOM imparted into my life is having a LIFE OF PRAYER. And very soon I came to know that the thirst for HIM shall be satisfied in HIS PRESENCE alone. As, I started building up my life having not just a PRAYER LIFE(TIME) but a LIFE OF PRAYER, I could find my utmost pleasure in seeking HIM, experiencing HIS divine love moment after moment and the joy of having HIS PRESENCE surrounding me all the day.

Friends! Psalm 24:6 speaks about a generation who will seek HIS FACE. DOWNPOUR is all about SEEKING HIS FACE & SOAKING IN HIS PRESENCE for 3 days. Its all about gathering together the present generation and stir up their hearts to love the Father with an extravagant love and enjoy the presence of the glorious GOD. Imagine how would it be to have a complete generation seeking HIS face. Awesome, isn’t it. DOWNPOUR is just a start of that great call…raising up a PSALM 24 generation.

Its our blessing and pleasure to introduce to you the precious and wonderful man of GOD SHYJU MATHEW, recognised to be the prophet of this revival age, igniting a passion for GOD among the youngsters of this generation. SHYJU ministers all around the world in many countries. As an young man of just 25 years he challenges the present generation to grow in a much intimate relation with GOD. So, we request you to not miss this wonderful opportunity to start the destined year 2012, SOAKING in the presence of GOD. Shyju & his precious wife Tiny joined with a bunch of anointed men of God and worship leaders from different parts of the nation will definitely make the 3 days life transforming as they minister under the anointing of the most High GOD.

To the finite, limited vision of man, your endeavor may seem impossible to accomplish. But Jesus said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” (Mark 10:27). Remember, GOD is the Creator, and He has commanded you, His creation, to subdue the earth. Genesis 1:28.

Every adversity you will face ever has already been provided for, but you must choose to enforce what Jesus has done and overcome the work of the devil that attempts to hinder God’s design. He is the creator, you are the enforcer. You are called to be an imitator of GOD. You are called to your promised land, not to the land of mediocrity.

We serve a God who is more than enough! So, don’t compromise His greatness by setting for marginal progress or average thinking.

I feel like writing the same lines from my previous post again and again – There is a strength within that you have not yet experienced. Because you are His creation, fashioned in His image. He knows your limitations, and it is by His power that you are able to thrive.

…for with GOD all things are possible. May you become a sign and wonder for the world and a joy to many generations.

Keep going….we shall dig deeper!

Too many of us just want to be pre-formed or pre-cast in a quick and easy revival formula. However, our wings of worship can be created only one way – THEY MUST BE BEATEN INTO THE PROPER POSITION AND THE PROPER IMAGE. The hammer blows of life will bend us GODWARD if our responses to life’s challenges are right. When we respond wrongly to what life sends us, instead of becoming better we become bitter.

God intends for the hammer blows of life to move our wings of worship into position. Apostle Paul writes, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21). Paul could declare, “every time you hit me, all it does is teach me how to worship!”

DO NOT FEAR ADVERSITY! The cherubim on the ark of the covenant were formed with beaten gold. And worshipers formed of fire-purified gold and beaten through adversity and trails, refract the light of God’s glory. Every hammer indentation, every pick and awl mark, and every crease of transformation under pressure of pounding is another reflector for the multifaceted glory of GOD.

In all things GIVE THANKS – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

The primary purpose of the anointing in both the Old and New Testaments was to separate things and people and make them acceptable to God (occasionally/symbolically for kings). Unfortunately, we tend to use the anointing to smell good for everybody.

In the 2nd chapter of Book Esther, King Ahasuerus launched a search for the new queen. A Jewish virgin, Esther spent six months soaking in oil of myrrh and six months in other added sweet odors to purify and prepare her for one night with the king. Only one of all the candidates who find King’s favor could see the King again after that one night. Esther 2:17 says, “The king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her the queen…..”

Esther 2:15 says, Esther obtained favor in the sight of all them that looked upon her. Can u imagine what Esther smelled like after spending a year of soaking in the anointing oil. Everywhere she walked she left a cloud of incense, and the smell of precious myrrh was on her. It was on her ornaments, embedded in her skin and hair. When she walked through the palace, every man in the palace raised his eyebrows. But Esther didn’t return a single glance. She didn’t want to waste all the time she has spent in the anointing just to win the approval of men, she was after the approval of the king himself.

Can this be same with us, the church, the bride of Christ? We have grown accustomed to wear God’s anointing to win the approval of the King’s court instead of the King Himself! The purpose of the anointing is to bring God and man together in Holy Communion. Don’t waste God’s precious anointing by running after man’s approval but use it to prepare the Bride of the King.

Moses knew the difference between the anointing and the glory. He had the anointing of God. He knew the thrill of working miracles and signs and wonders through the anointing. But he asked God for the best thing. He said, “Please, show me your glory” (Exodus 33:18).

The gifts, blessings and provisions of His hands are appreciated, but I want more. I want HIM. I long to see His glory and dwell in His manifest presence.
