HABITATION, not just visitation

The Israelites rarely took a time to thank God for His mighty acts because they were too busy compiling ‘want lists’ and complaints connected with their physical and personal desires. The vast majority of us does the something today.

However, Moses wanted something more. He had experienced the miracles. He had heard God’s voice and witnessed His delivering power more than any other person alive at that time. He even experienced manifest presence of God in measure, in temporary visitation. But everything he saw and experienced in God told him that there was ‘much more’ for him beyond the cloud. He longed for more than visitation, his soul longed for habitation. He wanted more than just seeing God’s finger or hearing His voice speaking from a cloud or a burning bush. He had gone beyond, and God’s abiding presence had become his consuming desire.

Exodus 33:18 speaks about it – Moses asking God, “Please, show me Your glory.”

He wanted to see God’s face!

God was quick to grant Moses’ request for Israel, that His presence would go before the people. But God  didn’t grant Moses’ most urgent request directly. First God said that He would cause all His goodness to pass before Moses. Then the Lord explained to Moses that he cannot see God’s face, lest he die. Most people would be more than happy with that answer, but Moses has tasted the unearthly joy of the Lord’s presence and he was acquiring a taste for God that couldn’t be satisfied from a safe distance. A hunger had been ignited in his being that would drive him to risk death in God’s presence.

The Lord told Moses to present himself to Him on the top of  the mountain the next morning. Read Exodus 33:18-23.

So God came in His glory at the speed of light or faster to proclaim His divine name and pass by in His glory. As He passed by, from the cleft in the rock Moses could see the backside of His glory disappearing in the distance. Even though the brief revelation came as a flash, it made such an impact on Moses that he was able to dictate the Book of Genesis for later generations, the backside, the history of the creation.

Wow….isn’t that amazing? This is the season we go beyond the satisfaction of the touch of His presence or the glimpse of His glory. A season to desire ‘something more’ from God. His desire is to stay with us, in us and over us. His desire is to make us His dwelling place, a habitation for His abiding glory. Ask for more and more and more. Walk beyond the satisfaction of His visitation and run after Him until you become His habitation.

SWEATING LEVITES

Christians around the world are saying, “We want REVIVAL; we want a MOVE OF GOD.” It is something a common phrase heard in the churches, and among believers these days.

2 Samuel 6:1-11 gives us an illustration of David’s first attempt to bring the ark of God (God’s presence) to Jerusalem.  This picture perfectly suits the desire of the church to bring REVIVAL to their cities/nations. But unfortunately, we haven’t learned from David’s mistakes. We cram the holy things of God on a new cart of man’s making, thinking that God will be pleased. Then we are shocked when we discover His disdain. We expect somebody or something else to sweat out the hard part of revival. All we want to do is sing and dance in the procession. These man centered revival celebrations go as smoothly as they can until we hit the bump at the threshing floor.

These speed bumps on the road to revival may well be the hand of God saying – “No more of that! If you really want to move Me from ‘Heaven to earth’, you are going to sweat it out. Don’t try to transport my glory on man made programs, methods, agendas, schedules . . . you can have your cart or My ark, but not both.

7 th verse – Uzzah died when he tried to stabilize what God has shaken. We are trying to create a Uzzah-friendly environment when we prefer man’s comfort above God’s. A man of God puts it this way – Seeker friendly is fine, but spirit friendly is fire!

To the mind of man, it is logical to put a heavy box on a cart for such a long journey. The ark of the covenant was a box with gopher wood overlaid with gold in and out. Measuring about four feet long, two and a half feet wide and deep each.. imagine how much the ark weighed, for gold being one of the densest and heaviest materials. Still, carrying the ark on the cart is how the Philistines did it. God has told Moses that the ark should be transported only on the shoulders of the sanctified Levites. God doesn’t think like men do. His ways- the road to a holy revival – is higher and sweatier.

This is the time that God is looking for self sacrificed Levites who are willing to sweat themselves in carrying the presence on their shoulders. No matter the prayers, no matter the programmes, no matter the singing and dancing, no matter the unity…. all that God needs is few Levites prepared to burn out in carrying the presence of GOD. One man willing to bear the pain can make a difference. People look to the procession, people look to the leader leading the procession, people look to the costumes, people look all the other things…..but God’s eyes are searching for that one self sacrificed Levite who can make all the difference.

CAN THAT BE YOU?

WALKING DEAD MAN

Only dead men see God’s face, so when you go behind that veil you have to say, “I am not really alive anymore. I’m a walking dead man.”

“…therefore, brethren ….. present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,” Romans 12:1.

The high priest in the old new that he was a “dead man walking” when the other priests tied a rope around his ankle while he looked at the heavy veil seperating him from the Holy of Holies. The only way he would ever walk out of that room alive was solely by the mercy and grace of God. We don’t understand the delicate matter of approaching the glory of God today. If the glory of God ever showed up in full measure, we’ll all be dead. Mountains melt at His manifest presence. Judges 5:5, Nahum 1:5.

We need to grasp something more particular about the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 1:29 says, “That no flesh should glory in His presence.” If there is flesh present when the glory of God comes, then it will have to be dead flesh, because nothing can live in that presence. Only mortal thing that can remain in His manifest presence and stand is “dead flesh”, and only dead men can see His face.

Allegorically speaking, When the moment of truth finally came, the high priest would carefully dip his finger in the blood of the sacrifice and daub it on his earlobes. He would apply some more to each of his thumbs and on his toes. Once the blood of the death is applied the priest would take a deep breath and take one last look at the mortal realm. Then the priest would take a handful of holy incense and drop it on the top of the embers, which would create a thick billowing cloud of sweet smelling smoke. The priest would stick this censer under the veil and swing it back and forth until the smoke completely filled the Holy of Holies. Then he would gently life the bottom hem of the heavy veil and crawl into the Most Holy Place with fear and trembling, desperately hoping he would come back alive.

Knees are better than feet for entering the Holy of Holies.

TEND THE FIRE

David did two things to make sure God’s presence remained in Jerusalem.

First, he prepared a place for God’s presence by constructing a tabernacle without walls or a veil. Second, he created a living mercy seat of worship in the tabernacle so God would be pleased to remain in that humble sanctuary.

David learned a vital secret – if you want to keep that blue flame there, somebody has to tend the fire! The blue flame of the God’s shekinah presence should be fueled by sacrificial worship. We have no right to call for the fire of God unless we are willing to be the fuel of God.

Just a look into the tabernacle built by Moses (Exodus 25:18-20) – the wings of the cherubim that Moses built touched each other as they encircled and covered the mercy seat where the presence of God would sit just above the covering. The two golden cherubim weren’t cast or poured into molds. God said that the gold used to form the covering cherubim had to be beaten into proper shape and position.

The way we can build a mercy seat is to take our position as purified, beaten worshipers. Revelation 3:18, Romans 8:29 speaks about purity, brokenness and unity – the three components of true worship under the new covenant of the blood of Jesus.

Brokenness on earth creates openness in the heavens.

PRAYER – giving license to HEAVEN

WHAT IS PRAYER?

PRAYER is man giving God the legal right and permission to interfere in earth’s affairs.

PRAYER is man giving heaven earthly license to influence earth.

PRAYER is a terrestrial license for celestial interference.

PRAYER is man exercising his legal authority on earth to invoke heaven’s influence on the planet.

These definitive aspects of prayer may be a little shocking to many, but a closer study will explain many scriptures made in scripture as they relate to heavenly activities on earth.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chron 7:14)

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matt 16:19-20)

I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. (Matt 18:18-20)

Every action taken by God in the earth realm require the involvement of a human being. As John Wesley once said, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.”

Prayer is therefore not an option for mankind but a necessity. If we don’t pray, heaven cannot interfere in earth’s affairs. It is imperative that we take responsibility for the earth and determine what happens here by our prayer lives. Heaven needs you to give it license to impact earth. You can make a difference and change the course of history if you will just understand the purpose and power of prayer.

Discover your power, authority and rights in the earth and to position yourself to become a channel for heavenly influence in earth’s affairs.

HEAVEN DEPENDS ON YOU & EARTH NEEDS YOU!

WITHOUT YOU, HEAVEN WILL NOT & WITHOUT HEAVEN, EARTH CANNOT!!

PRACTICING THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Friendship with GOD is built by sharing all of our life experiences with HIM. He wants to be included in every activity, every conversation, every problem and even every thought. We need to carry on a continuous, open ended conversation with HIM throughout our day. Everything we do can be SPENDING TIME WITH GOD if HE is invited to be a part of it and we stay aware of HIS PRESENCE. The key to friendship with GOD is not changing what we do, but changing our attitude towards what we do. This is God’s ideal.

In Eden, worship was not an event to attend, but a perpetual attitude. Practicing the presence of GOD is a skill, habit we can develop. We must force ourself to think about God at different times in our day. We must train our mind to remember God.

The goal is not a feeling, but a continual awareness of the reality that God is always present. That is truly a LIFESTYLE OF WORSHIP.

GOD MISSING THE SONG OF HEART

God remembers when lucifer and the sons of the morning used to sing His praises with unearthly beauty and power. It is as if He says, “When will that be restored?” He is still surrounded by six winged seraphim who unceasingly declare His glory, but He misses the SONG OF THE HEART.

If music fell when Satan fell, then that explains why the bulk of the Satanic influence in our world comes from the realm of music. Music is his venue. The church spends countless hours arranging music scores, rehearsing  choirs and singers to make sure they are just right. Yet no matter how much energy we spend pursuing excellence, we many times can compete with the world’s orchestras, bands and artists.

Our music may many times not be as good as that of the world’s music but there is still one arena in which no one can compete with us- the art and ability to pull down the manifest presence of God.

Technical perfection may win the praise of men, but only the anointing and glory of God can melt their hardened hearts.

Perfected music won’t do, but perfected praise attracts HIM.

The creator is longing not for the music of this world system/standards but for a song from the hearts of His beloved sons. A song from you alone . . . the love song which makes the lover of your soul invade your heart.

Ohhhh….this is the season where God is desperate to listen some love songs. The desperate lovers of GOD like Mary Magdalene, John, David . . .!!!! Can there be few Shulamytes’ who can sing – “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.”
